NB best fashion party of recent years was Miu Miu's at London's old In And Out Club on Piccadilly. Lavish but loved-up and real, London at its very best. If you remember it, you weren't there etc etc

Prada hosted a major event in Beijing at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum on 22 January, with both a men's and women's fashion show, featuring some exclusive looks, alongside a selection of the 2011 S/S collection. The show was followed by a dinner party and the evening went on with a live performance by non other than the PET SHOP BOYS. So as well as some images from the night, we also thought you might like to know our top 5 Pet Shop boys picks…).

Today’s Pop is Isabelle. She’s so gorgeous she’s gotten really tired of hearing “you must be a parking ticket, cause you got fine written all over you”. Her one and only love is fashion, and Prada is her main squeeze.

Offered exclusively at the 3 Corso Venezia store from January 2010, the Prada Made in Japan denim is available in four fabrics and seven different washes, created by artisans with a series of unique treatments.

Each detail of the manufacture is meticulously monitored: from the hand-dying of the fabric, which is attained by immersing the fibers into natural indigo pigment thirty times; to the wash, which is achieved by following the folds of the trousers while they are being worn. The aim is to reproduce the look of ‘real’ wear.

Due to the fact that these procedures are extremely sophisticated and particularly crafted, they all take place in the same region of Japan. However, according to the desired characteristics for a particular style, a specific location that offers the best quality workmanship within this region is selected.

Prada’s Made in Japan denim joins the range of products created exclusively ad hoc for the store at 3 Corso Venezia in Milan. The final garments are so personalized that their interiors feature printed symbols that are recognizable and unique, including hand-painted Kanji characters and the graphic signs that indicate their region of provenance. Inverting the trousers, one can find the printed history of the garment, from the treatment of the fabric and the type of workmanship to the names of those who created it and the region of provenance.

The reinterpretation of the Prada triangle, made by an expert in Japanese calligraphy and printed on the trousers’ interior using a marble stamp, becomes the special logo that sanctions the collaboration between Prada and Japan.

So to continue with our week of name dropping… (yup, we’re just THAT cool) Wednesday night was spent at the incredibly packed Prada party on New Bond Street.

Held in celebration of their new book “Prada: Creativity, Modernity, Innovation”, which proves that Miuccia has indeed taken over the world, we sipped champagne with the crème de la crème of London’s fashion pack.

Even the mannequins seemed engrossed in the hardback that had completely taken over the store, and after flicking through, it will surprise you just how far the Prada projects stretch. Clue: it’s a lot further than the end of the runway!

Each chapter traces back into all aspects of Prada’s diverse and distinctive history, and shows how the partnership between designer Miuccia Prada and entrepreneur Patrizio Bertelli has generated an ever-widening sphere of fascinating projects.
