Today's POP is Stephanie with a head full of Fontana 1956 and Sander 2013…
I left the Jil Sander presentation here in Milan yesterday with something nagging at the back of my mind. Sure, I wanted just about every outfit. Sure, I realised it would take Jil a little while to really hit her stride… And Autumn/Winter perhaps favours the queen of the perfect wool coat…
But late last night I began to understand what was buzzing deep in my imagination. While the Jil Sander was perfect in so many ways, it also saw a designer renowned for minimalist perfection now marrying the clash.
What am I talking about? Well how about school uniform versus avant-guarde shapes cut on an unholy bias. And how about a perfect muted colour palate of blues, greys and browns married with the most amazing STATEMENT shoes.
Jil Sander is doing what she always does, but perhaps she is doing something a little more now. Elegant wool coats worn with punky pointed flats. Street chic in a full, true sense.
The fashion world changed while Jil was away. But not all for the better. POP's backstage (and more) photo report captures a little of the Jil Sander magic 2013. Same as it ever was… And yet not.
