The divisions between "street art" and "serious art" are disappointing on so many levels, but JR is, to my mind, the great hope. I asked him about the Wall Street Protesters who had used his portrait posters in recent weeks. "It was a shame that they just went for it all over the place, rather than making one huge coherent statement," said JR. Proving that art can reflect the modern world in a revealing manner, and without a pretentious foreword from a freelance "art curator".
