POP 744 Friday 4 November 2011

Today's POP is Stephanie. Fashionable Fairy Tales.

Kids, or parents rather, meet Viktor + Rolf: the latest in children's authors.

For their latest venture, the conceptually driven design duo have created Fairy Tales: a fantastical, blush-enclosed hardcover text. Inside you'll find a phantasmagoria of singing butterflies, flower bombs, and spoiled princesses.

My favourite tale? 'The Butterfly & the Wind'; a sweet but sad story about an optimistic young butterfly experiencing the changing of the seasons for the first time. Highly allegorical as most fairy tales go…

Enjoy a sneak excerpt:

I float and I fly,
blog high into the sky,
cold wind carries me along,
but chills my happy song.
Where's my season in the sun?
Where's my freedom an my fun?
I fall and I fly,
even as I die.
I'm happy to say
I loved every day
of my season in the sun.
And now my song is done.

How's that for a fairy tale?!
