POP 715 Monday 3 October 2011

Today's POP is Isabelle having a quick chat with MISS ZADIG&VOLTAIRE herself, Creative Director Cecilia Bonstrom, who gave birth to her 3rd baby boy only 5 months ago! CONGRATS again!

What happens when you combine Parisian chic with a bit of Swedish sensibility? A whole lot of goodness! POP had a heart to heart with Bonstrom, the Swedish-born former model.

What is the main idea behind Zadig & Voltaire’s SS12 wardrobe for women?

It's all about preppy pirates! That's what I had in mind. I want Zadig & Voltaire to be feminine yet never girly. There's a lot of light blue, but not pastel blue – I call it more of a washed denim blue. I like contrast; something chic yet with raw edges. You will find a lot of silver and gold which always adds glamour.

Who is the woman you had in mind for this collection?
Definitive Clémence Poésy and of course Kate Moss.

The capsule collection of your collaboration with model Erin Wasson just hit stores, and it already seems to be a huge success. How was it working with Erin on this project? Working with Erin was great; we really speak the same language. Last season while modelling for our previous campaign she'd mentioned collaborating. She's so easy going; the epitome of the Zadig & Voltaire girl!

What was the process like working with Erin?
We started out with her ideas, then I would rework them slightly to best suit the world of Zadig & Voltaire. Erin is someone who knows exactly what she wants and has an extremely precise vision in her head.

Will there be any future projects with with Erin?
We don't have another collection planned at the moment.

Last season you worked with Gaia Repossi on a Jewelry collaboration for the brand. Will there be another collection for the coming season?

The collaboration with Gaia was really successful and she's fantastic. We're aiming to work with a different designer each season. For AW12 we are working with a new jewelry designer who’s name I can't reveal yet. But you'll see, we have lots of interesting collaborations to come!
