POP 638 Monday 4 July 2011
Today's POP is Kerry. Reporting straight from RCA.
The RCA degree show takes place this weekend in Battersea and Kensington. We checked out the Battersea locations – showing Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture. It's a lot to take in in one afternoon – but the following five stood out:
Hephzibah Rendle-Short
PhD student – lovely zen-like plaster wall pieces. Check out her LOA website – the Lost Object Archive – a network of fictional forms to reconstruct the memory of a house that no longer exists. Loa-net.net. Interesting.

Wieland Payer
Gorgeous prints and drawings of landscapes – some after symbolist painter, Arnold Böcklin. For the romantics out there.
17
Jackson Sprague
We loved the minimalist plaster and watercolour wall pieces and simple sculptures. A little bit Blinky.
42
Nicholas Pankhurst
Large works made from resin, acetate and oil on plaster. "Dealing with constructions of reality, of internal and external anthropic forces mutating its own laws.." Yeah but we think they look good on a wall.

Emma Critchley
Video art
Critchley specialises in underwater photographer but we liked the simple classicism of the video installations of pages turning in a book, and Muybridge-style horses.
