POP 605 no. II Wednesday 1 June 2011

Today's second POP is Alejandro. He's not only friendly but he's got some good fire to back it up. Burn baby, burn…

It has been more than two years since Friendly Fires´ eponymous debut album hit the rock disco scene; since then the St Albans pupils have become one of the most interesting and curious bands in the country.

Their second studio album Pala, mainly written in northern France, saw the light two weeks ago, exceeding critics and fans expectations. They have embrace on new sounds and forms, but they haven’t lost their taste for dancy and energetic beats.

Their new work is a compelling selection of songs, a classy affair that invites you to dance your way to a Utopian island and never come back. After a few days of listening to it, we have fallen in love with their romantic electric sound; one of our favourite tracks has to be Pull Me Back to Earth, a song that will surely soundtrack summer parties and festivals all around.
