POP 478 Monday 20 December 2010
Today's Pop is Ashley. Bored of people texting and calling about Carine, uplifted by "Zig Zag Wanderer" at volume 10… RIP Captain Beefheart et Lieutenant Roitfeld… Escape the Plastic Factory…

It's the week before Christmas. Every client and work friend suddenly needs to squeeze in that last meeting. You don't know what to buy all the children. Your head is BOILK, it's snowing and travel chaos looms…
Tired feet on Regent Street need to divert to the excellent Martin Erik Anderson show at Sprovieri Gallery on Heddon Street (number 27, W1B 4BJ). A joint show with the ever-inspired isis organisation, this is the award winning Danish artist's first solo show in the UK.

Anderson's wall hangings rival the Bourgeois' currently wowing big crowds round the corner at Hauser & Wirth. A great investment at these prices too. He's really a master craftsman, his fabric work both beautiful and provocative. Perhaps better still are Anderson's trademark installations, folky juxtapositions of things that shouldn't really live together… And here's the best bit: they're best viewed lying on the floor in the manner these telephone snaps suggest.
So, the perfect Christmas week art show. Rest your feet and take along a patchwork pillow for your BOILK head.
PS an excellent isis / Sprovieri gang meal on Wednesday night after the show's opening. The crowd and the fashion was especially strong…
