John Rocha’s collection is by far one of the most exciting ones this week, guess who’s out there to open his show?! Its non other then our oh so delightful cover girl Abby Lee who’s according to john and I’m quoting: captures the spirit of the woman I like in this moment in time.
A sneaky leap backstage and I found myself chatting to John about weather and fashion (or was it fashion and weather?) anyway…

What started in Guatemala in one of his yearly fishing trips to the region ( John recommends to try the smoked barbecued goat if you are around) became a whole universe of three dimensional magic on the catwalk, the constant clash of the raw and the delicate, soft silk and raw wool, heavy pleating against soft and floaty textures ,extreme technology vs nature inspired fabrics and shapes all tied up with textured riding hats, add quirky knee high socks, ripped at the knee stockings and you get that John Rocha girl with an attitude, you go girl!

This was the so called “Silver Jubilie” for John Rocha’s brand celebrated (in Claridges Hotel, mmmmm little tiny miniature blackcurrant ice cream cones yum yum! ) 25 years of creation and when I say creation I mean everything from making jewelry to building hotels.
The man has touched every creative field possible and still going strong,

He says “the great wall of china wasn’t built in a day” and that’s what keeps him going forward, “follow the dream there’s a long journey ahead” an advice he gives to daughter Simone who is graduating CSM these days, so it’s not only up to luck, hard work is required although I discovered John still carries his lucky charms around these days ( I just had to ask! him being Irish and all that) Chinese coins he kept in his pocket the day he left Hong Kong when he was only 17 are apparently partly responsible for his major success, watch out John I am so after your lucky charms!
