Todays POP is Becky, full of Christmas cheer and a smile from ear to ear.
Becky decided after a week of Christmas kisses to take it easy on Sunday and go down to Tate Modern to see the lovely Phillipa Horan who was setting up a stall at the Tate Modern. A festive reprise of Rob Pruitt’s Christmas and Kwanzaa (an African-American festival) version of the ‘Flea Market’ event, programmed to coincide with the exhibition Pop Life: Art in a Material World, in which Pruitt also appears.
Tracey Emin was selling everything from mugs to prints, and Gavin Turk was selling match boxes from his flea circus for £20. Phillipa was coming down from a debauched birthday weekender ( and i sneakily suspected pretty much everyone in there was inebriated ) Phillipa was selling VHS tinsel made from her favourite movies and Gavin Brown Enterprises were selling empty jam jars with labels saying “Christmas Spirit”.
My favourite way to celebrate the festive season. Good art, good vibes, and wasted artists. Wicked!
