Today’s Pop is Rebecca. Having spent months picking up after models on fashion shoots, we figured it was time someone did the same for her…

It sounded incredibly interesting. Summer drinks with the Arcadia Group press team to view the Autumn 09 collections at an event dedicated to on-line press and bloggers. But here’s the kicker: anyone invited would get to play “dress up” in the collection, then snapped by their photographer to upload onto your blog there and then. Genius. I had to do it. Besides, free champagne right?
Upon arrival at their press office I am ushered to the 6th floor and into a small, humid, all-white room lined with each of the Arcadia brands’ proudest pieces. I get told to pick out what I like – amongst the many rails I find a forest green velvet one-shouldered play suit, a union jack headband (well I have to rep my country) and a cropped black feather jacket (give me one good reason why not) plus many silver rings. Outfit: check. Once suited, I’m ushered through a red velvet curtained photo booth with my name on it and walking past some leather stools that blocks the way, I stumble into a white photographic studio. Very C.S Lewisesque…

Next to the stage lie a few tables which are packed with quirky props including a telephone, a bottle of coke, paper fans (handy in this heat), a guitar, a tea cup, a photo frame, and many more, all painted matte white. I wisely turn down the guitar, and opt for a very quaint teacup and saucer. Well I am in wonderland after all. And no, Lady Gaga is not the inspiration.
The next few minutes fly by, but as I pose for picture after picture I find myself wondering:
1) Why am I doing this?
2) Why is this room so hot?
3) Why is no one else trying things on?
4) Do I look completely stupid?

Next thing you know it’s all over, and I am backstage getting changed into my normal day to day wear. Once out, I am met with a well appreciated glass of champagne and a memory stick with the photographic evidence of my poor modelling skills. My task is over.

The clothes themselves were beautiful. I loved the grey knit oversized jumper from Topshop with what I believe was a fox motif on the front (though the champagne could have blurred my memory). I was however most impressed by the Balmain inspired purple velvet body con mini dress with structured shoulders from Dorothy Perkins that promised to smooth away any imperfection. Note to self, must hunt down next time I’m shopping on a lunch break.
Despite the initial embarrassment all in all it was an incredibly entertaining evening, even if the evidence will probably haunt me for some time.
