Today’s Pop is Juliette. She took a break from acting as our 21

Mykonos is perhaps best known for its granite and a myriad of gays partying up a storm, but is nevertheless one of the most attractive places to visit during the summer period. Beaches to die for! Greek statues to get your blood racing! This year the place was looking even more beautiful considering the credit crunch had chopped of a considerable chunk of the usual touristy rabble.
The attraction of Mykonos becomes self-evident in a variety of ways as soon as you step off the boat. There is the carnality of the place bien sure (I dare you to find a sexier island), but the appeal is much bigger than that. The mix of fashionable gays, drag queens (don’t miss a chance to view a legendary drag show at Jackie O’s!) and the connoisseurs following the island’s unique bohemian lifestyle is what makes the isle into such an exquisite concoction. There is something to be said about an island that can produce a labyrinth of clubs so vast, that by the time you get out (courtesy of the 3am gyros), you realize that what started as a quite evening in front of a plate of pasta (and just one drink next door), has just turned into a wet, sweaty, dance-on-the-tables marathon. So, did we go home? Nah, we jumped right back in. “Gay, White, Puerto Rican, Everybody just a-freakin’. Good times were rolling” (I’ll let you figure out that quote yourself)…

Apart from the unique joie the vivre, there is a certain dress code too. Designer caftans in every color, retro sunglasses, Panama hats, accessories – but the star of the season is nothing else but, wait for it… flip flops! Handmade and in any style and color, I just couldn’t keep my eyes away from are all these beautiful slippers. There was just something about the thought of strolling down the Psarou beach in a bikini with matching slip-ons…

Needing a break from socializing, relaxing and sunbathing I decided it was time to get a bit artsy and got a chance to visit the gallery Art Kessaris that launched one year ago and is the art talk of the island thanks to the young free spirit of the owner Anastasia Kessaris. As I entered the gallery I found lovely Ellie which took me around to have a look at the interesting photography exhibition from a variety of artists which you’ll be able to view throughout August. If you happen to be there – required viewing!

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and the island of sin and sex was replaced by a peaceful and quiet London that only August can give you…
