Today’s POP is Isabelle on the roof terrace listening to Depeche Mode.

What do you do when the F/W issue of POP is out the door and being printed across three separate countries and you have a bit of down time in the office? You can’t wait to get your hands on next season’s clothes. So when lovely Clare from Karla Otto called to let me know that they have received the much-anticipated Spring/Summer 2010

VIONNET collection in their showroom I couldn’t help but ask them to send it over so that we fashion nerds here could have an up-close look at it – yes, I know it is a bit sad when all of London is chilling/sunbathing on Hampstead Heath while all we seem to think of is clothes, clothes and more clothes!?!

Thank God we have a lovely roof top, that’s where we caught our cute intern Juliette (aka the Greek Goddess), having tried on her favourite

VIONNET outfit, enjoying a Frappuccino and a cigarette – and dreaming of her next Mykonos holiday – lucky Juliette is heading there tomorrow, so don’t pity her too much! Unfortunately, the VIONNET look she will have to wait until next spring to wear again.

Back to the facts though – why am I so thrilled about VIONNET’s kind of relaunch again? Well, being a fashion geek I have always admired Madeleine Vionnet’s beautiful dresses from the beginning of the last century. Inventor of the bias cut and celebrated master of draping, she has always managed to make women look like Greek Goddesses. After the not so successful attempts of reviving the French House with Sophia Kokosalaki and Marc Audibet, the brand got sold in February of this year to smart cookie investor Matteo Marzotto, formerly at Valentino, who appointed Mr. Rodolfo Paglialunga as the new creative director. And Mr. Paglialunga, who worked for many years for no one less than Mrs Miucca herself, has managed to transfer the brand’s identity into the 21st century and given it a modern more casual feel. And that’s what we love about it, cause as much as I’d wanna walk around in Greek Goddesses dresses 24/7, the reality is rather different. Until now. You really can walk around Mayfair in that beautifully Grecian draped red top! We just did it all afternoon…
