Today’s Pop is Beck, who also appears in one of our images today. Which one is the mysterious Beck? This you do not need to know. But let us tell you she is not one of the members of our team who left the Glastonbury Festival long before Saturday night, once the customary lack of grass (the green stuff) had hit home. By contrast, our herbaceous correspondent Beck had whole hillsides to graze on at 27
They call Winterwell a “Boutique festival”, an alternative to the all-pervasive Glasto Media Scrum. That might sound a bit pretentious, but let me just say Winterwell gives you a far more intimate feel than any of the larger British summer festivals. No Blur, Neil Young or The Specials? Actually no problem when Norman Jay is at the top of his game and one of London’s DJ greats has joined in brilliantly on a fancy dress “Outer Space” theme. By the end of this festival you really can know more than half of the participants on a first name basis. Did dressing as a Cyber Cat help? Well, it certainly didn’t get any complaints. Let’s hope they keep this event to just 200 and make the dress codes even stranger next year.
