Today’s Pop is the inaugural BATTLE OF THE FASHION CUPBOARD. Is now the moment to embrace the Great Fashion Cliche? In Milan yesterday, Isabelle seemed to suggest just that. But what did her work experience assistants left at home in the fashion cupboard think? Guys, the cat’s away… rock your favourite glossy mag cliche move NOW…

Jo loves KIDS ON A BEACH

“I’d already printed up this image and had been thinking about it. I mean, what’s better than a bunch of fun cool kids running around on the sand? You can never see that too many times. This is from the new

Jan Ahlgren campaign and it’s actually really strong I think. It’s like a

Bruce Weber spirit, though it’s not by him… it’s the Bruce At His Best Spirit. But, then, you could do a whole book on the whole Bruce spirit, right? I’d buy it! I love classicism, it’s not a cliche, though.”

Sas loves GEEK GUYS WITH GUITARS

“Is this cheating? It’s kind of men’s fashion! Guys with guitars always works for Hedi Slimane… You can’t beat it. But I like a real Geek Guitar Guy. I took this picture at Tommy Flynn’s in Camden. That’s the spot to find the real guitar geeks, the guys that hold-down dull day jobs and rehearse for months just to play to their friends and family. The Wednesday night at Tommy Flynn’s is the best for that School Of Rock feel. Right in the middle of this cool area – this London hipster mecca for skinny jean indie boys – you’ve got this Geek Guitar place that is so so uncool that it’s actually the highlight of the Camden scene.

Hedi get down there! I’ll do the styling for you!”

Julia loves ANIMALS IN THE FASHION CUPBOARD

“I want a fluffy bunny and buck teeth! Maybe some little dogs dyed pink and blue running around the clothes rails… A sense of perspective on the outside world? Some good original thinking? No, no, non. Put a furry creature on your head! Photograph each other with your Fashion Blackberrys!”
